Corina’s Story

Corina’s Starting Point
Corina first met Peter when she was part of a 2-day senior team off-site session that he facilitated. Corina was then working as Head of Communications in a multinational media company which was going through significant change. On a personal level, Corina had a sense that it was time for a role change but she was not sure what that change might be. The team off-site experience sparked something in her and she then decided to do a series of one-to-one coaching sessions with Peter.

Corina loved the opportunity to explore bigger questions both with her colleagues in the team off-site and for herself in the one-to-one sessions. It was an energising revelation for her to be able to go beyond the typical day-to-day business and be part of these deeper conversations.
This was her first experience of working with a coach. She said that the sessions were the first time in her life that she had felt seen in a big way. As she worked with Peter, she developed the view that he had an interesting job and she wondered could she bring this to other people. Helped by the clarity that she got out of the coaching sessions, she moved from communications and public relations to creating an internal coaching and facilitation service for individuals and teams in the company. Her new role helped to support the company-wide change process.
Where Corina is now
After a few years of developing the internal coaching and facilitation capability in the media company, Corina has gone on to set up her own business providing coaching and facilitation services. She sees it as being like a new professional life and she is very grateful for that.

Sean’s Story

Seán’s Starting Point
Sean was leading a large business that was seeking to make significant changes including substantial number reductions. While there was a lot of uncertainty about the future, it was clear that if they continued as they were, there would be no future for the business. While this was a demanding leadership role, it was also a great opportunity to learn about handling change in a challenging commercial environment. Sean reckoned that he needed the support of a coach and team facilitator who had the necessary experience and credibility to enable him and his team to work through the upcoming challenges. He got a recommendation to contact Peter Mohan of Clear Mind Coaching.
Seán’s experience of working with Peter
Peter was a really good fit for enabling the team members to do what they needed to do.
There are 3 things that typify Peter’s approach: (1) Authenticity – no ego, no drama; (2) Always about me – he always started by asking me what I wanted to talk about today; (3) His Signature Strength – framing your challenge in a question. It sounds simple but it is not easy to do. Many times I came in with a 10min explanation of my challenges. Peter would listen and then ask me what is the question that you are trying to answer today? I found that to be really grounding.
During the coaching sessions, Peter asked questions which helped to catalyse fresh thinking and goal clarity. Peter was always genuinely interested and he struck an effective balance between providing support and challenge. I always left the one-to-one sessions feeling that I knew what to do next – either for myself or with others. In my case it got me through a tough patch where I needed a safe place for developing ideas and road-testing things.
Clear Mind is not your average coaching. When you need real support through really tough challenges – you need top drawer people and for me, Peter Mohan is one of those. There are enduring benefits for both me and the organisation from the work that we did.
Where Seán is now
Since leading that change process, Sean has moved onto a new senior manager role. He stays in touch with Peter and he continues to use the insights and learning that he got from the one-to-one and team coaching sessions with Peter.
